Jefferson Elementary School
Architecture & Interior Design
Jefferson Elementary is a new K-5 elementary school. It replaces the original school built-in 1923. The new school is located on the same site as the existing school. Jefferson Elementary is located in an older established culturally diverse neighborhood. The new school is designed to preserve the “old school” charm and mix with the surrounding neighborhood. It is a 60,000 square foot single-story structure. The exterior is brick and block construction. It has 18 classrooms (three per grade), Title One, special services, a media center, gymnasium, multi-purpose room/cafeteria, and office support space. The new school was occupied beginning Fall 2007. The existing school was demolished after the new school was completed. New hockey and leisure skating rinks with a warming house, as well as playground and green space for outdoor activities will be constructed on the site.
