Growing up I was always curious how and why things went together a certain way and eventually explored different ways to do this. At some point in middle school, I was introduced to the concept of an architect and had the opportunity to job shadow one and from that point on I knew it was what I wanted to do with my life. I have since graduated from North Dakota State University with a Master of Architecture degree and will continue my passion for architecture in my career. Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors doing absolutely anything, whether it is hunting, fishing, boating, or something similar. I also enjoy traveling and road trips with my friends or family and can find an interest in any part of the world.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve held a great interest in the environments that have surrounded me – both natural and built. I’ve also had an ongoing curiosity for exploring how things are constructed. These two interests of mine have played a big role in the development of my career in architecture. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve frequently caught myself paying a lot of attention to whatever construction might be taking place around me – especially building construction. Architecture was the only true career path that ever seemed to captivate both my interests as well as my talents. Because of this, I decided to study architecture in hopes of someday being able to shape building designs of my own. Since graduating with a Master of Architecture degree from North Dakota State University, I have continued to satisfy my curiosities by learning as much about building design as possible. My role within the RLE team varies widely from project to project as I assist in various phases of building design through the use of drafting, 3D modeling, computer-generated rendering, and so on. During my time away from work I enjoy spending time outdoors, going hunting, going fishing, sightseeing, visiting friends and family, and any combination thereof.

I have always known that I wanted to enter the profession of interior design because my grandpa owned a successful modular home business. I enjoy creating spaces that have a lasting impact on people and their surroundings. It is inspiring to see how beautiful design can truly transform a space. As I continue my education at North Dakota State University, I am excited to be a part of the RLE team to grow my knowledge and gain real-life experience within the industry. Outside of work, I enjoy being on the lake, spending quality time with friends and family, being outdoors, and exercising.

At a young age I fell in love with the world of art and design. It’s so satisfying to create something not only you enjoy but others enjoy too. I have grown to appreciate the details that truly bring a design to life. Pursing interior design has given me the opportunity to channel my creativity in an exciting and practical way. As I continue my education at North Dakota State University, I am thrilled to be a part of the RLE team to gain real-life experience and grow my knowledge within the industry. Outside of work, I enjoy quality time with family and friends, spending time outside, exercise, and sporting events.

There is something so incredible in seeing an idea turn into a design and then into reality. I have been fascinated with that concept since I was young. This eventually drew me to the architecture world because it was a way for me to be a part of that process. I’m excited to be working at RLE where I can expand my knowledge surrounded by experts in the industry. In my free time I enjoy being with friends and family, going to baseball games, the movies, going for walks, and working on my golf game.

For the past five summers, I have been framing residential homes in the Fargo/Moorhead area, which is where I discovered my interest in Architecture, and continued to grow in my knowledge of the physical construction side of a build. I have always enjoyed getting my hands dirty in the field, but with my Master’s in Architecture from NDSU, I have been able to enjoy the design side of things where I can use my own creativity to construct a solution for all client needs. Being a part of an accomplished team at RLE, I can let my experience make a difference and give it a purpose in real world applications. Outside of work, I tend to spend my time playing sports of any kind including summer league softball and volleyball. During the school year, I play on the Men’s Club Soccer team at NDSU and am currently a co-captain on the team for my fifth and final year of college. I like to keep myself busy and always jump from one activity to the next while I still have the energy to do so.

As a Senior Project Manager and now semi-retired, I find myself as having completed the circle of my profession. Having gone thru years of education to start this career in architecture was just the beginning. Working in a variety of offices, architectural, construction, construction management, and finishing up again in this architectural office puts a cap on all that I have learned through the years. Mistakes made along the way and learning from them to hopefully never make those same mistakes again, and now being able to pass this experience on to the younger project managers and assistance and our support staff. It starts with education and now providing education in a different way to make for a complete project doing everything we can do provide the client with an excellent project.

I continue to stay busy in my retirement years with working on remodeling and reconstructive projects of my own and apply the knowledge gained over the years. That business also includes time with family, golfing, hunting, fishing, and trips on the motorcycle.

Order out of chaos. That’s one definition of “create” and my passion. It’s how I look at work and my personal life; everything from managing projects at work to remodeling, furniture building and landscaping in my free time. I love the process of creating and the dialogue with people and the design itself. And what would all that be without a good laugh, because we all take ourselves way too seriously.

The pursuit to improve ourselves and learn something new every day enriches all our lives. Our senses and emotions are motivations that provoke the built environment to respond and inspire everyone to participate in life. It’s the spaces surrounding us that frame our memories and help shape who we are. I feel blessed to be able to help communicate that through architecture. Understanding others, listening, and putting their needs above yourself is a main tenet my family strives to achieve. Communicating well with each other is paramount, regardless of where it’s applied.

Architecture is a physical solution. Whether it is having a dwelling suited to a specific lifestyle, a place of commerce laid out for a maximum return, or making a space more comfortable, better architecture can be the solution to some of life's problems. And I love being a problem solver. I specialize in graphically communicating design ideas within our project teams. It’s hard to believe that around 90% of our time is spent indoors. I find it amazing that I am part of a group of creative and intelligent minds that help imagine and shape the spaces we spend so much time in. As a Project Manager, I help organize and guide those minds into producing environments that our clients love to work and play in. As a bit of a perfectionist, I want to make sure our clients are satisfied. As our tagline says: Results. Done Right. I truly believe those words and do everything I can to make sure that happens. After I hang up my Project Manager hat for the day, I start my night job as a mother of two boys and a wife of a hard-working man. At home, I make sure my troop of men are well fed and cared for and maybe find some time for a little fun as well. Did someone say Legos? I’m in.

Our interior spaces are constantly evolving to harmonize how we work, live, and play. After over two decades of designing interiors, I still get a twinkle in my eye and burst of energy when in the element of designing concepts for a new project. The interiors of a corporate lobby with stiff chairs of twenty years ago have progressed to a welcoming lounge area with a coffee bar and fireplace. Studies confirm that ergonomics, colors, textures, lighting, and flow all have huge influences on our daily moods, ability to focus, and productivity. Signature elements you will find in many of my projects are 1) functional, yet unique space planning; 2) detailed ceilings incorporating various lighting and; 3) commissioned local artists. These components touch our senses bringing comfort to all users. Outside the office, you will find me cheering on my growing kids in their sporting events. My husband of over 20 years and I enjoy traveling and exploring new adventures. He often patiently waits for me while I touch materials, crawl under objects to see how they were constructed, and photograph details of natural textures most people don’t pay attention to.
