Technology leads the design intent for these two multipurpose conferencing spaces at the RLE group. The larger conference space incorporated two touch screen TVs, and video conferencing cameras providing views from the ceiling as well as high definition 4k wide-angle views. Dimmable LED lighting featuring a neutral 3500 kelvin of color temperature in linear recessed lights, square recessed can lights and a linear wall washer for custom artwork are in the larger conference room. For the more intimate, lounge-style conference room, the LED lighting shows a warmer hospitality feel of light with 2700 kelvin color temperature. Acoustical panels on the walls were used in two styles: 1) printed artwork and 2) graphic felt floor-to-ceiling panels, both surrounding the large table of 10. High NRC-rated modern acoustical ceiling panels in size of 2’x5’ panels simulated gypsum feel in the smaller room. A secondary standing-height table with backless stools enables multiple conversations or an ‘on deck’ area for meetings that transition groups in and out. Built-in cabinets featured vented metal panels for electronics and cord management, pull-outs for hidden trash, and plenty of storage for pens, scales, paper, etc. The tops of these fingerprint-proof laminate cabinets allow for refreshment areas for meetings as well. To accommodate cords from the conference table to the wall-mounted TVs (without coring through concrete), a floor trough system with a gradient edge profile fits nicely under the carpet tiles to conceal the cord. Window treatment roller shades with various opacities, including blackout, are in the window treatments for optimum technology glare reduction in these spaces. A combination of a commissioned local artist and 3 Dimensional wall art and accessories finished off the conference rooms giving an appealing, comforting ambiance.
